Canada has a new look for the FIFA World Cup.The Nike-designed kits were unveiled by Canada Soccer, showcasing what the men’s national team will be wearing in 2026.Canada Soccer showed off new home (red) and away (black) jerseys on Monday. Unlike years past, Canada will not wear a white uniform. The jerseys are constructed using Nike’s Aero-FIT performance cooling technology and feature some neat design elements. That includes a “lucky loonie” inside the collar with a phrase that reads: “From coast to coast to coast.”Both jerseys also feature a font that appears to nod to the 1986 team, which was the first from Canada to make it to the FIFA World Cup.The red jersey incorporates a large two-toned maple leaf into the design.Canada went with an even bolder design for its away kit.“The away kit represents the new face of Canadian football — confident, unapologetic and shaped by recent competitive momentum,” Canada Soccer explained in the announcement. The black jersey features pops of white, representing ice cut up with a skate blade.“Inspired by frozen landscapes, a cracked-ice graphic captures both tension and beauty. A frozen maple leaf etched like a skate blade reinforces Canada’s winter‐sports heritage.”Unlike other countries, Canada famously didn’t unveil a new uniform in the lead-up to the last FIFA World Cup, wearing three different kits at Qatar 2022, which it unveiled one year earlier. That’s something that has been rectified this time around, with the men’s World Cup set to be played on Canadian soil for the first time, in less than three months.“There’s a real pride in representing Canada. Our players understand the moment in front of us, including a World Cup at home and an entire country behind us,” said Canadian men’s national team head coach Jesse Marsch. “When we put this jersey on, it represents every place and every community that helped build The People’s Team. We take this responsibility seriously.”We’ll get our first look at the new kits in action later this month, when Canada takes on Iceland (March 28) and Tunisia (March 31) in World Cup tune-up matches at BMO Field in Toronto.Canada’s opening match of the FIFA World Cup is set for June 12 in Toronto against a yet-to-be-determined opponent. Vancouver will host Canada’s remaining two group stage matches, against Qatar on June 18 and Switzerland on June 24.
