RapidRAW 1.5.1 by Razvan Serea RapidRAW is a beautiful, non-destructive, GPU‐accelerated RAW image editor designed for speed and simplicity. It uses a lightweight (~30 MB), efficient code base built with Rust, React and Tauri. Ideal for Lightroom workflows, it offers rich editing tools—exposure, contrast, highlights, shadows, whites/blacks, tone curves, HSL mixer, dehaze, vignetting, film grain, sharpening, clarity and noise reduction—processed in real-time on the GPU. Features include intuitive masking (brush, linear, radial, AI-powered subject and foreground detection), generative edit layers (via ComfyUI), 32‐bit precision, and full RAW format support through rawler. RapidRAW also provides library management (folder navigation, ratings, metadata, EXIF viewer), batch operations, export presets (JPEG/PNG/TIFF), sidecar editing (.rrdata), undo/redo history, customizable UI themes, smooth animations, resizable panels, and preset copy/paste. A modern high-performance Lightroom alternative with polished UX and creative tools, RapidRAW brings powerful photo editing to photographers seeking speed, responsive GPU feedback, and streamlined workflows. RapidRAW 1.5.1 changelog: This update places a strong emphasis on improving the core viewing experience and overall performance. The viewport and rendering engine have been completely rewritten to provide greater control over how images are previewed, whether editing on a high-end 4K display or a lower-powered laptop. Fullscreen behavior and masking have also been redesigned to make the editing process feel smoother and more native. In addition, several frequently requested workflow improvements have been introduced, including automatic cropping when applying lens correction and the ability to batch-convert negatives. New Features: Rewritten Rendering Engine The viewport and rendering engine have been rebuilt to offer two distinct preview modes.Dynamic Preview This mode renders images with pixel-accurate precision based on the user’s display. When zooming in, the preview dynamically updates to remain perfectly sharp. A new resolution scaling option allows users to lower the render scale to improve performance on high-resolution (4K/5K) displays where maximum pixel density may not always be necessary. During development, a long-standing WebKit (macOS) issue that caused images to appear blurry while zooming was also resolved.Static Preview This mode renders images using a fixed base resolution defined by the user. It does not dynamically recalculate the preview during zoom operations, although a full-resolution image is still loaded in fullscreen mode. This option is particularly suitable for lower-end devices where maintaining responsiveness is the priority.Native Viewport Fullscreen Previously, entering fullscreen opened a separate high-resolution modal. The new implementation uses the main viewport instead: side panels slide away and the viewport scales up seamlessly. Because fullscreen now uses the actual editing viewport, zooming, panning, and other editing controls work consistently while in fullscreen.Fluid Mask Creation & Real-Time Overlays The semi-transparent red mask overlay is now calculated fully in real time, allowing precise mask adjustments without stuttering or delayed previews. Creating masks has also been made more intuitive. Instead of automatically placing Linear and Radial masks in the center of the image, users can now click and drag to draw them exactly where needed.True Pixel Peeping (No Interpolation) At maximum zoom level, smoothing and interpolation are disabled. This allows users to view the true, hard-edged pixels of the image for accurate inspection of noise and sharpness.Core Improvements Export Memory: The application now remembers the last-used export settings.Auto-Crop on Lens Correction: Lens correction now automatically crops the image slightly to remove black borders and edge distortions.Real-Time Histogram: The histogram updates instantly and smoothly as adjustments are made.Batch Negative Conversion: Negative film scans can now be converted in batches, speeding up film workflows.Various shader improvements for better performance.General UI cleanup, Lensfun update, and stability fixes.Download: RapidRAW 1.5.1 | ARM64 | ~20.0 MB (Open Source) View: RapidRAW Home Page | Screenshot | Other operating systems Get alerted to all of our Software updates on Twitter at @NeowinSoftware
